The Cahuinarí National Natural Park is located in the Colombian Amazon region, inhabited by indigenous people of various ethnicities, including the Huitoto. However, this area suffered for a long time from the exploitation of rubber, which is why many of the ethnic groups that existed disappeared. In fact, the writer Germán Castro Caicedo wrote his novel entitled “Lost in the Amazon”, inspired by the problems of this part of the country and the encounter of the indigenous tribes with western customs.
HOW TO GET TO PARQUE CAHUINARÍ, AMAZONAS
The Cahuinarí National Natural Park is located in the department of Amazonas in southern Colombia, in the municipality of Puerto Santander. To get to the Cahuinarí Park you must go to the town of Araracuara or La Pedrera, the route is downstream by the Caquetá river, approximately 300 kilometers to Araracuara and 200 kilometers to La Pedrera.

The Cahuinarí National Natural Park is located 120 meters above sea level, so the temperature in the area is approximately 27°C. In addition, you can find rock art in the stones you will see in the course of the Caquetá river and in the Tijereto jet, the Regadera jet and the Gallo jet, these so-called petroglyphs are very distinguished in the park for their indigenous cultural richness.
And if you want to get closer to the indigenous cultures of the Amazon, you will find a collection of ceramics in which they will explain the complex process of creation of these pieces so characteristic of the indigenous tribes.
