The Jaime Duque Park was founded in 1983 as a nice initiative to help non-profit foundations working for the elderly and children. This park was created by the aviator and first chief pilot of Avianca, Jaime Duque Grisales, who dedicated his life to social work, donations and helping the neediest in his hometown and anywhere he could. Jaime Duque was awarded many prizes for his work throughout his life.

HOW TO GET TO JAIME DUQUE PARK?

Jaime Duque Park is located in the municipality of Tocancipá, in Cundinamarca, just 30 minutes from Bogotá. To get to Jaime Duque Park from Bogotá, you must go to the North portal of Transmilenio and there take a bus to Tocancipá. This trip only takes 30 minutes and it will be very easy to recognize the park, since from far away you can see the attractive attractions.

GEOGRAPHY AND CLIMATE IN JAIME DUQUE PARK

Tocancipá is a municipality located at 2,606 meters above sea level, and its average temperature is 13 °C. If you are going to visit the Jaime Duque Park, we recommend that you bring warm and comfortable clothes so that you can tour the park without problems and participate in all the attractions. However, a good idea would be to bring sunscreen and an umbrella, as you never know how the weather might surprise you.

ATTRACTIONS IN THE JAIME DUQUE PARK

The Jaime Duque Park is one of the main attractions of the municipality of Tocancipá because it is a place that makes a rebuilding of national and international culture, as it is a park where you will learn and have fun visiting fascinating buildings, sculptures, paintings and recreations that will leave you absolutely amazed. One of the biggest attractions of the park is its imitation of the Taj Mahal, since it is an architectural work very similar to the real one. Without a doubt, whoever visits Tocancipá must visit the Jaime Duque Park, but, in addition, this town offers many more things to see and do, as you can also visit the Aerospace Museum and the Tocancipá racetrack, and do extreme sports such as paragliding.

You must take into account that Tocancipá is very close to the municipality of Sopó, about 10 minutes away, and there you will also find many things to do and see, among them, the town of Sopó, which is a very quiet and beautiful place.

WHAT TO DO IN JAIME DUQUE PARK?

In the Jaime Duque Park there is a variety of attractions because it is a big park where you can walk, meet, learn, be surprised and play. It has 24 didactic attractions and approximately 16 mechanical attractions.  The Park keeps in itself a map of Colombia in relief, is a giant map in which it is necessary to the smallest detail, such as rivers and departments. An imitation of the Taj Mahal that in its interior is an art museum, museum of Jaime Duque and in turn shows a cyclorama of the independence of Colombia.  It also has a panoramic train in which you can tour the park from above. You can visit the interior of a plane HK 136, visit the Plaza de las Banderas, the spring of the centaurs, the Monument to God, the Monument to Nationality. You will visit a fantastic Medieval Castle where Dante Allighieri’s work “The Divine Comedy” is shown. In addition to all this, there is a museum of man, a museum of the costumes of the world, a dinosaur garden, a mythological fountain, and a pony trough.

The mechanical attractions consist of tea cups, swans, bumper cars, boats, merry-go-rounds, bouncers, a Chicago wheel and a few others that you can’t just read about, but experience with your partner or family, because the park is designed for the whole family.

GASTRONOMY IN JAIME DUQUE PARK

The Jaime Duque Park has a complete restaurant known as “Restaurante Bocatípicos” and is located in the Paseo de la Cultura area. As its name shows, it offers typical Colombian dishes such as the ajiaco Santafereño, the bandeja paisa, bean casserole, on the belly in Creole sauce and the special dish of the house, the plato Bocatípico. It also offers fast food and desserts.

In addition to the restaurant, it has a coffee area, where you can find hot and cold drinks, fast food and pastries.

In the surroundings of the park you will also find inexpensive restaurants that offer a variety of dishes and menus.

The bus to the park costs $4,800.

To enter the Jaime Duque Park you must purchase one of the entrances offered by the park:

General Bracelet: $32,000 (Valid for all days open Wednesday to Sunday)

Special Bracelet: $42,000 (Applies only to weekends, Saturday, Sunday and holidays)

Please note that the park is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays.

On Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays only the general bracelet is sold, as some attractions are only open on weekends.
