Katios National Natural Park was declared a World Heritage Site in 1994. It is an area of 720 km2 with tropical rainforest, tropical jungle, floodable forest and dwarf forest ecosystems. It contributes to the country with the water regulation and the fishing production, it is habitat of diversity of species of fauna and flora and its ecological and landscaping wealth is invaluable, in this place the existence of 30% of birds of the country is registered.

How to get to Los Katios Park?

This beautiful tourist destination is located in the municipalities of Riosucio and Turbo, between Chocó and Antioquia. To get to Los Katios Natural Park you must go to Turbo or Apartadó in Antioquia, the closest municipality to the park is Turbo, in Tubo are boats that will take you directly to the park in at least 2 hours of travel.

If you are in Quibdó or Ungía (Chocó), you can take a boat that will take you to the park in a journey of approximately 6 hours.

Geography and Climate in Los Katios Natural Park

Los Katios Natural Park has an average temperature of 27°C and a height between 2 and 600 meters above sea level. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothes for warm climates, however, it is important to wear a raincoat because rain can surprise you, use sun block and insect repellent, use a hat or cap to protect yourself from the sun. Wear shoes with good grip and resistant.

What to do at Los Katios National Natural Park?

One of the main attractions of this tourist destination is its impressive and important water sources. The waterfalls that you will find in this park are really beautiful, one of the waterfalls reaches 100 meters high, you can practice canoeing, diving and sport fishing.
