Tuparro National Natural Park is located in the department of Vichada and covers about 548,000 hectares. It is an important reserve of species and ecosystems of the region of the Orinoco and the Eastern Plains. In this park you will find dozens of beautiful landscapes that you will not find anywhere else in the country. Tuparro Park was declared a National Monument and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1982. This beautiful place acquires its name because the Tuparro River is one of the water sources that tourists can find there. In addition, the Orinoco River, the third longest river in the world, passes through the area covered by this magnificent park.

HOW TO GET TO TUPARRO NATIONAL PARK?

There are multiple options depending on the traveler and his preferences. To get to Tuparro National Natural Park you must first go to the capital of Vichada: Puerto Carreño. In Puerto Carreño you must take one of the vehicles that provide services to Casuarito.

In Casuarito, the trip will become more interesting, since you will have to embark and cross the Orinoco River by fluvial way until the neighboring country Venezuela in Puerto Ayacucho. Finally, in this place you will have to take a boat service that will leave you a few minutes from the entrance of the Tuparro Park.

El Tuparro Park has an airstrip, so it is possible to get there by air.

GEOGRAPHY AND CLIMATE IN TUPARRO NATIONAL PARK

Tuparro Park is located between 100 and 330 meters above sea level. It has an average annual temperature of 27°C with a warm climate. It is advisable to wear comfortable clothes for hot weather, sunscreen, hat or cap and insect repellent, do not forget to wear comfortable shoes. Thanks to the variety of ecosystems found in the park, it is recommended to get vaccinated against yellow fever and tetanus before your visit to the park. A good idea is to have an emergency kit in your backpack.

ATTRACTIONS IN TUPARRO NATURAL PARK

Tapurro National Natural Park is a protected area in which you will find 4 different ecosystems. It is a natural wonder of Colombia that has an enormous ecological and landscape richness. This place will allow you to disconnect from technology and get into a direct encounter with nature and all its magic. In Tuparro Park you will find a diversity of species of fauna and flora, about 550 species of plants, 100 of birds and about 70 of mammals make this important park their home. In its more than 500.000 hectares, there are paradisiacal, exotic and unique places in the world. Many rivers pass through the Tuparro Park, such as the Orinoco, the Tuparro and the Tomo. For this reason, you will find crystal clear water sources where you can take refreshing baths, and also practice sports such as kayaking, rafting and sport fishing.

On the other hand, the conditions of the park will allow you to do climbing, mountain biking, hiking and bird watching.

Besides all this, in the park, there is an indigenous settlement that you can visit, there you will learn about the cultures of the Sikuanis (Guahibo), Cuivas, Mapayeris, Curripacos and Puinaves communities. Remember to show respect for their beliefs and culture and do not take pictures without first asking permission.

One of the most important attractions of Tuparro Park is El Raudal de Maipures, a place that the german Alexander Van Humboldt called the eighth wonder of the world.
