This park was created in 2007 by peasant families living around the La Chorrera waterfalls. These families decided to buy the land that today covers the park and build the infrastructure so that visitors could tour the place. In this way, through the creation of the park, jobs were created for the young people of the region as a work opportunity that would also help to conserve nature and promote sustainable environmental development. In fact, many of the guides are young people who worked in the construction of the park who tell of their experiences with pride and love for their park.
