The Quininí Hill is a forest reserve that was created in 1987, it has an extension of 1900 hectares. This reserve is composed of forests for protection, there are also some agricultural farms where coffee and bananas are grown. Quininí hill is part of the municipality of Tibacuy.

This imposing mountain was the center of offerings and praise from the indigenous culture of Los Panches, who inhabited this area many years ago. Its name refers to “Sacred Mountain of the Moon”. The petroglyphs found on the stones give evidence of the existence of the Panches and their culture.

HOW TO GET TO QUININÍ HILL IN TIBACUY

Quininí Hill is located in Cundinamarca in the municipality of Tubacuy. To get to Quininí Hill you must take a bus at the southern terminal of Bogotá to Silvania. When you get to Silvania you must take a bus to the natural park Quininí Hill.

GEOGRAPHY AND CLIMATE IN QUININÍ HILLS

Quininí Hill is located at an altitude of 1,200 to 2,130 meters above sea level, with a temperature of between 15°C and 21°C. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothes, shoes with good grip and sun block. Likewise, it is essential that you are prepared for the rains, so it is a good idea to bring an additional change of clothes and waterproof.

ATTRACTIONS AT QUININÍ HILLS

Quininí HillS is very attractive due to its ancestral history, as it was a space where the Panches Indians lived and formed their society. In this park you can see many rock formations, each of which has a name and was a sacred place for the tribe. But Quininí Hill has a special attraction because, according to legend, it was there that the Panches went to worship the Moon Goddess.

Some of the places that you can visit and get to know is the cave of the Panches, in this place, it is said, that the Panche warriors hid their treasures. This cave is also known as the Cave of the Mohan.

The Eagle’s Peak is one of the most visited places in this park, since this place was the vortex for souls to transcend.
The Stone of Gritadero was where the Panches carried out power rites, as well as the Stone of the Parto was where the community brought their children to life. On the other hand, the Stone of the Lavapatas was where the warriors cleaned their souls before going to the rites.

And not only this, in this beautiful place you can find carved rocks, petroglyphs or rock art that this community left as a legacy.

During your visit to Quininí Hill Park, you can spend a day of ecological walking, since this park has a large extension. It is an ascent route in which it is recommended to have a good physical condition to be able to know all the magical corners of the place. Some of the previously mentioned stones are of great height, you will be able to take incomparable photos from there. The park has an oak forest that is home to a variety of species of fauna and flora.

In addition to all this, in the Quininí Hill you will be able to camp, spend a night like no other under the stars. It is advisable to take a good coat because the temperatures at night are very low, have a good camping equipment to make your night more enjoyable.

It is important that you have your own food reserves when you visit Quininí Hill. It is wise to take plenty of hydration with you as the hike demands it. You will only find a store at the entrance to the park, since there is no such service inside the park. It is essential that you have supplies if you are going to camp in the park.

WHERE TO CAMP ON QUININÍ HILL

The Quininí Park has different areas for camping, the favorite place for travelers is the Robles Forest, however, the caretakers of the park often close this place for seasons because foolish tourists make fires and pollute the place.

Another place that has a very nice camping area is the Stone of Gritadero, there you can spend the night very quiet, although it is said that in this place there are paranormal events, despite its history, however, all this is myths and legends that you should confirm yourself.
